  1. 1) How did Germany's policy from January 1917 onward cause the United States to declare war?

In January of 1917, Germany announced unrestricted submarine warfare - that is, they wouldn't bother to check whether the ships they were going to destroy were military or civilian. They would just fire at will without checking for innocent people, supplies for them or a medical boat. President Woodrow Wilson broke all diplomatic relations with Germany, but didn't and wouldn't go to war unless Germany specifically attacked Americans. Which is what they did by sinking four vessels with Americans onboard.

The turning point was when the Germans unrestrcited submarine warfare of January 1917 really started to impact the trading business America had with Britain and French. As it became clear that American needed to battle on ground than jn the ocean if they were going to defeat Germany. President Wilson already privately biased towards the English, made the move to ask congress to declare war. The unrestricted submarine warfare had nothing to do with poor innocent American losing their lives but rather protecting the economic investment and trade made with the Allies.

  2. African Americans were used as slaves. They were fine for digging toilets but were almost never given rifles. Some Negro units did see some combat, but most Afro-units were just laborers. Women still had no vote, so they had no voice in American or British policies. Women did join the services as nurses as Red Cross volunteers, and, limitedly, ambulance drivers.
The war directly impacted all African Americans, male and female, northerner and southerner, soldier and civilian. Migration, military service, racial violence, and political protest combined to make the war years one of the most dynamic periods of the African-American experience. World War I saw many women taking traditionally men's jobs for the first time in American history. Many worked on the assembly lines of factories, producing tanks, trucks and munitions. For the first time, department stores employed African American women as elevator operators and cafeteria waitresses. The Food Administration helped housewives prepare more nutritious meals with less waste and with optimum use of the foods available. Most important, the morale of the women remained high, as millions joined the Red Cross as volunteers to help soldiers and their families, and with rare exceptions, the women did not protest the draft.

  3. How did Germany's policy from January 1917 onward cause the United States to declare war?

On January 1917, Germany renewed its policy of unrestricted submarine warfare that it had abandoned in 1915 after the sinking of Lusitania. All ships trading with Britain, including those of neutral countries such as the United States would be targets for their submarines and would be sunk without warning. The effect of this decision cause president Wilson to realized war was inevitable but agonized over the decision for what it might do to the spirit of the nation. He feared war would change America forever, making her tougher, less humane.

In this effect it cause the United states to go to war due to Germany killing US citizens and also stating to Mexico that if they join them they can get their land back. This showed them that being neutral is not an factor. Also, president Wilson felt that going to war make the world safe for democracy. So, for this cause Congress granted Wilson's request to go to war.

  4. Women in the war became a huge effect in WWI. While the men fought in the war, women worked as factory workers producing guns and other military needs, they were nurses to help heal the men when an attack was fired and they became injured, and soldiers also in the war. That all didn't come on its own. Women needed to be trained in their profession. It didn't stop there though. Women fought for rights because they felt as if they didn't deserve it. This made an act for women rights.

Businesses and economic values effected the war in many ways. With businesses producing guns and other products for the war, that caused a huge increase on economy. Considering the businesses sold guns to allies, that gave an even bigger increase on economic values. Though some money was lost buying guns and other things needed in the war, they still had many other advantages to increase more ways to increase their economy.

  5. How did Germany's policy from January 1917 onward cause the United States to declare war?
On January 1917, Germany unleash what they called unrestricted submarine warfare, this warfare was used to sink ships and the Lusitania, which cause the death of so many lives. The U.S. decided to stay out of the way, by being neutral. When Germany sunk the Lusitania, American lives were lost for no reason so as a result America sends a note to Germany saying “You better watch what you doing and who you are hitting”. The Zimmerman telegram was send from Germany to Mexico saying if you join us then we will help recover the land you lost, if you help support us(financial wise).
Later the message was intercepted by Great Britain who later told the U.S. about the plan Germany was plotting. That was the third strike, the U.S. Could not take it no more, Woodrow neutrality was broken, a few moths later, he appeared to Congress wanted to declare war on Germany. Thus the U.S. Enter WW1 one year before it was settle.

  6. How did Germany's policy from January 1917 onward cause the United States to declare war?

Germany renewed their policy on unrestricted submarine warfare. Germany had abandoned this policy due to the sinking of Lusitania in 1915 which killed many lives. Wilson didn't want to go to war with Germany. Wilson wanted the U.S. to be neutral peace maker and stay out the way, but when German killed the lives of Americans from the sinking of Lusitania the United States sent a threatening note to Germany.

The Zimmerman telegram was sent from Germany to Mexico. It stated if Mexico join Germany they would help get the land they lost back if they helped financial wise. The message got intercepted by Great Britain who later warned the United States on the deal with Germany and Mexico. The U.S. was done been nice. Wilson neutrality was broken. He went to Congress and asked to declare war on Germany.

  7. One policy that is overlooked now is that in 1917 the war was not going well. The American public was very much neutral while Wilson in private was very supportive of the Allies. In March the Russian Tzar abdicated and left the Allies seriously troubled as to how much longer they could count on the the Russians tying up troops on the Eastern front. America had been supplying for years now the Allies with their explosives, guns, and ammunition, not to mention enough in loans to cover both France and GB entire war effort. When the U.S. declared war on Germany it was because the British-French Alliance was losing the war that the Americans were so far financing.
The turning point was when the Germans unrestrcited submarine warfare of January 1917 really started to impact the trading business America had with the former two. As it became clear that American boots on the ground were going to be needed to defeat Germany, Wilson already privately biased towards the English, made the move to ask congress to declare war.

The unrestricted submarine warfare had nothing to do with poor innocent American losing their lives. But rather protecting the economic investment and trade made with the Allies.

  8. In January 1917, Germany renewed its policy of unrestricted submarine warfare that it had abandoned in 1915 after the sinking of the Lusitania. All ships trading with Britain, including those of neutral countries such as the United States would be targets for their submarines and would be sunk without warning.
In February, the British gave the American ambassador in London a copy of an intercepted German telegram. The telegram came from the German Foreign Secretary, Arthur Zimmermann, to the German ambassador to Mexico. Zimmermann proposed that in the event of war with the US, Germany and Mexico would join in an alliance. Germany would fund Mexico's conflict with the US. With victory achieved, Mexico would regain her lost territories of Arizona, Texas and New Mexico. Release of the telegram ignited a public furor further enflamed by the loss of four US merchant ships and 15 American lives to
    German torpedo attacks.
After that situation happened President Wilson warned Germany not to do that again. Them Germany unrestricted the submarine warfare. Which showed President Wilson that Germany didn't care about his words. And after that U.S. joined the war. To protect their people and the economy.
